Scrum Master - Must live in Arizona

Summary: The Scrum Master serves as the liaison between the business, represented by the Product Owner/Product Manager, and agile software development teams. The ScrumMaster helps the Scrum Team perform at their highest level. They also protect the team from both internal and external distractions. ScrumMasters hold the Scrum Team accountable to their working agreements, Scrum values, and to the Scrum framework itself. As the local expert or “master” of Scrum, the ScrumMaster plays a critical role in the adoption of Scrum and other Agile development practices at Concord.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•                Facilitating Scrum ceremonies as requested or needed including daily stand-ups, reviews/demoes, retrospectives, sprint & release planning, and refinement/grooming sessions

•                Removing impediments to the development team’s progress

o   Works to remove impediments throughout the organization

o   Knows who to talk to (or finds out) to solve problems and resolve issues

o   Runs interference so the team can remain focused

•                Helping the development team to create high-value products

•                Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team as well as possible

•                Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum

•                Reinforces agile principles throughout the organization through coaching

o   Coaching the development team in self-organization and cross-functionality

o   Planning Scrum implementations within the organization

o   Leading and coaching the organization in its Scrum framework

o   Developing, leading, or assisting in agile training or workshops

•                Helping the product owner to arrange the product backlog to maximize value

o   Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise product backlog items

o   Finding techniques for effective product backlog management

o   Understanding product planning

o   Helping with story refinement and determination of sprint “readiness” for individual stories, fixing stories and acceptance criteria as necessary

•                Assists the team with making appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition

•                Assesses the Scrum maturity of the team and coaches the team to higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable

•                Builds a trusting and safe environment where team problems can be raised without fear of blame or retribution

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must have 3+ years of experience working in an iterative, Agile development environment
• Must have 3+ years of experience working with project management/defect management tools – TFS/Azure DevOps is a plus
• Must be CSM or be willing to train to become CSM or higher
• Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, & Outlook
• Must have the ability to effectively present information, both written and oral, and respond to questions from all levels of management and employees
• Must have the ability to adapt when projects/initiatives need to deviate from original plans or shift direction based upon changing needs and priorities
• Must be accurate, detail oriented and self-motivated; possess excellent organizational skills; and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks; able to work with minimal supervision
• Beneficial to have a working knowledge of Concord’s key functions, industry terminology, company policies and procedures
• Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
• Must be willing to work more than 40 hours per week depending on workload
• Willing and able to travel if required by clients/projects
• Some experience working with BI tools – Microsoft Power BI, etc. – is a plus
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
