NATURE OF WORK
Under the direction of the Recreation Program Superintendent, this position will coordinate seasonal activities or sports within the Recreation Department.

Availability of work may be weather dependent. As such, applicants must be able to work varying hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays.

  1. Perform illustrative examples of work as defined below.
  2. Communicate on regular bases with Recreation Program Superintendent.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to organize and manage schedules.
  • Ability to make decisions independently in accordance with established policy.
  • Ability to perform work in a safe manner and report unsafe activities, conditions, and faulty equipment.
  • Ability to remain calm and address concerns and complaints professionally.
Illustrative Examples of Work / Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
Specific to Baseball/Softball:

  1. Collect and tally all youth umpire pay cards and turn in on Tuesday of pay week before 1pm.
  2. Turn in scores for mustang league and little league every Monday.
  3. Schedule umpires for scheduled games and make up games.
  4. Prep fields between games.
  5. Make appearances at fields that umpires are required.
  6. Handle problems and answer questions from coaches and parents at the field.
  7. Keep track of the number of games each umpire works.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The primary duties of this position are performed in a public building environment or an outdoor environment and may include working in adverse weather conditions.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and to communicate effectively with customers.
  • Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and work orders.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to receive fees and provide change due and to operate a variety of office equipment.
Training, Experience, and Qualifications

  1. Must be 18 years of age.
  2. Experience in the specific area where the position will work preferred.
  3. Must be honest, trustworthy and pass a background check.
