What Success Looks Like In This Job

Control noxious weeds on Adams County open space and Adams County road sides.

Note: This is a temporary, seasonal position that typically works between the months of April and October.

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Apply EPA registered herbicides on Adams County open space and roadsides to noxious weeds.
  • Keep accurate records of all herbicide applications.
  • Operate various equipment including 1 ton spray truck, ATV, backpack sprayers and hand-held sprayers.
  • Perform routine maintenance on chemical spray equipment.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications for Success

  • Ability to learn basic methods and techniques of integrated noxious weed management.
    Ability to perform safe work practices.
    Ability to learn to operate and maintain various chemical sprayers.
    Ability to learn the proper uses of herbicides, and ability to apply according to the label directions.
    Deal tactfully with the citizens of Adams County,
    Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
More Qualifications for Success

  • Experience: Six months of vegetation management or related experience.
  • Education and Training: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • License or Certificate:
    • Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado drivers license.
    • A Colorado Department of Agriculture pesticide license is preferred.
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Other:
    • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
    • Exposure to noise, outdoors, chemical and mechanical hazards.
