DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Secretary 11 performs skilled secretarial and general clerical work, which requires typing, filing and related
activities. This position is distinguished from Secretary I by the more varied work assignments and the greater
independence with which assignments are performed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
o Compose and type correspondence, documents, and reports of routine matters from clear copy or rough draft
requiring knowledge of departmental operations and regulations using standardized formats.
0 Sort, index, and file materials numerically, alphabetically or by some other predetermined classification
according to established procedures.
0 Retrieve/track files of information from manual and automated computer files.
0 Answer varied inquiries, over the phone or in person, explaining departmental policies and procedures and
resolving routine questions or problems independently.
0 Act as a receptionist, greeting visitors, responding to phone inquiries and directing or routing to appropriate
personnel.
0 Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes,
and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:0 Knowledge of of?ce practices, procedures, and equipment operations.
0 Knowledge of proper business English, spelling, grammar, and basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division.Skill and ability in using office equipment (i.e., computer, copy machine, fax machine).Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Ability to comprehend and make inferences from material written in the English language.Ability to learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation. This learning takes
place mainly in an on-the-job training setting.

0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years performing general clerical duties in an office
setting which includes office software and use of modern office equipment.ADDITIONAL RE! QUIREMENT:

- Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
of the application.
0 Required to a pass background check and fingerprint clearance as a condition of employment and must
continue to maintain throughout duration of employment. Background checks are required for positions that
involve regular contact with or control over Community Children in accordance with The Indian Child
Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 U.S. C. Sections 3201 through 3210 and C.F.R. Part 63
and positions that have regular contact with the Elderly.Non-Supervisory, Hourly Position
