DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Security Guard is responsible for providing security to Gila River Indian Community buildings and property.
The Security Guard will be directed toward the control of thefts and acts of vandalism to Tribal facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


- Patrolling, observing and providing security to assigned area from theft, vandalism and unusual behavior;
including the use of a security surveillance system.
0 Provide adequate protection against fire, theft, illegal entry, and other acts of crime tampering the safekeeping
of Tribal facilities

- Responds to security breaches and alarms; notifying the Police department of any emergencies or suspiciousactivity.Examine doors, windows, gates other building entries and exits to ensure they are secure.Inspect equipment and machinery if necessary to ascertain that tampering has not occurred.Observe unusual behavior, objects and activities to prevent or detect threats, thefts or vandalism.Report and record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and/or disturbance for use by TribalAdministration and Tribal Police.
0 Required to be familiar with location of gas, water and electrical shut-off switches for assigned
facility/building in case of emergency.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

- Knowledge in security techniques, tools and procedures.
0 Ability to prepare clear and accurate reports and be able to speak and write effectively.
0 Ability to work under stressful conditions, have keen observation qualities to remember details on incidents
and locations.
0 Work cooperatively, courteously, yet firmly with all segments of the general public.
0 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials,
and the general public.
0 Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED and a minimum of one (1) year experience as a security guard, corrections officer,
detention officer, police or military officer or closely related experience.ADDITIONAL RE! QUIREMENTS:

- Must be 21 years of age or older.
0 Required to pass a background check and fingerprint clearance as a condition of employment and must
continue to maintain throughout duration of employment. Background checks are required for positions that
involve regular contact with or control over Community Children in accordance with The Indian Child
Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 US. C. Sections 3201 through 3210 and C.F.R. Part 63
and positions that have regular contact with the Elderly.

- Required mandatory reporter pursuant to Title 7, Chapter 2 (7.205), B.
0 Required to attend Title 7 Mandatory Reporting training on a yearly basis.
0 Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
of the application.Non-Supervisory, Hourly Position
