The Federal team is seeking an Actuarial professional to support a broad range of actuarial functions for the segment. This role collaborates with the Underwriting, Finance, and Strategy teams. The Federal segment has risk, self-insured, and Medicare plans. Medicare is a unique growth opportunity for the segment and offers an exciting opportunity to partner with Medicare teams.
The Federal segment offers plans on the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program where there are 4M subscribers made up of actives and retirees. It is an exciting time to join the Feds actuarial team as the FEHB program is being split to create a new Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) program for all USPS employees and retirees. The individual in this position will play critical role in the strategy and execution of entering this new exchange.
Job Responsibilities
* Pricing: Maintain the pricing model, develop trends, monitor competitor information, and present pricing to senior leadership
* Budget/Forecast: Work closely with finance to submit our Fed forecast for both Commercial and Medicare businesses
* Reporting: Provide monthly plan results, trend views, MLR projections, and Open Enrollment analysis
* Strategy: Predict competitors actions in the market to grow our plans and plan for the upcoming Postal Service exchange
* Self-Insured Plans: Maintain pricing and reserve models, make reserve picks, and communicate financial results to the plan sponsors
* Demonstrate understanding of complex actuarial functions and industry related issues in cross functional teams
* Present and explain data to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM)
* Influence, recommend, and implement actuarial policy and processes

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: 75,400
Maximum: 158,300
Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree along with 5+ years of experience
ASA or FSA required
Understanding of the healthcare industry, healthcare data, common healthcare terminology, and medical cost issues & strategies
Demonstrates critical thinking and expresses ideas clearly, concisely, and logically from a cross functional perspective
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Access
