CLASS SUMMARY: Under general direction, incumbent(s) supervises application analysts, designs, develops, tests and implements application software for automating and improving data access and reporting. Incumbent(s) maintains new and existing applications and prepares and maintains documentation. |

Supervises application analysts to include determining workloads, establishing work schedules, monitoring work performance, recommending new hires and terminations, determining work priorities, providing staff development programs, conducting performance evaluations and discipline, resolving staff conflicts, and interpreting and implementing policies and procedures. Provides direction to analysts on proper troubleshooting methods and procedures. |

Develops written documentation to ensure continuity of operations. Prepares, plans, and procedures describing in detail steps required to upgrade, patch, and/or replace supported software. |

Utilizes third and fourth generation programming languages to develop application and specialized software from program specifications. Creates and maintains routines for the effective interaction of the application with the client and the clients' hardware, as well as performing specialized tasks. |

Provides continuous maintenance for the application and specialized software developed by troubleshooting problems, being aware of and communicating program deficiencies and continually seeking methods to improve program delivery. |
