Job Description:

The Senior Buyer reports to the Assistant Director of Supply Chain Services. This position is responsible for managing all materials purchasing for the MOR, OPSC, CCL and SPD departments. Other key functions are invoice assessment and reconciliation as well as to ensure that accurate and timely invoice payments are processed for the MOR, OPSC, CCL and SPD departments. The Senior Buyer performs duties related to researching, sourcing, evaluating and purchasing medical, surgical, capital, and technical items as well as associated service and maintenance contracts. This position utilizes various computer applications (i.e. Lawson, GHX, ECRI, VSA, Greenlight Medical, Aptitude, Onbase and Epic) associated with managing supplies, implants, equipment and instrumentation. This position works closing with Financial services regarding accounts receivable/payable in processing requisitions, purchase order follow-ups, bill onlys, supply charges and audits. This position assists the MOR, OPSC, CCL and SPD department management team with researching new products and technologies and in preparing annual supply-equipment expense budgets. The Senior Buyer assumes accountability and responsibility for researching product specifications and availability of GPO contracts. Responsible for preparing thorough cost analyses using spreadsheets and other tools available in the Lawson ERP in order to make a recommendation for purchase, product conversions or standardization of products. In addition, this position consistently interfaces with the Surgery Procedure Scheduling Services for the MOR, OPSC, CCL and SPD in the preplanning and confirmation of surgical procedures to the surgery schedule related to products, equipment and instrumentation needs. The position works closely with external vendor representatives in the management of effective interfaces with the MOR, OPSC and CCL departments. Responsible for investigating cost savings opportunities through consolidation of vendors, channel optimization and volume purchases using the software applications referenced above. This position demonstrates strong skills in reasoning, analysis and problem identification and resolution. The Senior Buyer is required to possess excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and customer service skills. Must be professionally committed to develop and maintain good public, management, physician, customer and co-worker relations. Clear and precise communication language and advanced PC applications skills are required. Must be able to read and write the English language.

Experience

Three to four years of experience in a Supply Chain Buyer role with the knowledge, skills and abilities in the key elements of the materials and purchasing management functions related to hospital operating room environments highly preferred. Expected to have intermediate key boarding skills, high proficiencies with personal computers and software programs, (i.e. strong MS Office Suite skills) along with ability to use the most current email applications. Experience with database query, add ins and macros software preferred. Lawson ERP experience is highly preferred. Proven customer relation skills in interfacing with hospital staff, physicians, patients, families, sales representatives, vendors, etc.

Education

Bachelors Degree and/or 3-4 years commensurate work experience in Supply Chain/OR Services.
