Position Summary:

The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for supporting the IT needs of the company, as they relate to cloud operations. This position will manage end-to-end AWS cloud infrastructure. The successful candidate will support all infrastructure (including computer, network, storage, and security) and automation requests/incidents. Create and manage repositories for reusable assets/artifacts. Create, maintain and manage the required environments (Dev, QA, Prod ) to ensure seamless cloud application development, integration, and service delivery. The Senior Cloud Engineer should be quick to grasp new concepts, thoroughly explore the depths of an issue, and be persistent in understanding the root cause of issues. This role requires strong interpersonal skills due to continual interaction with managers and users with varying technical backgrounds in a fast-paced work environment

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in system design planning, review, and implementation to create enterprise solutions built on AWS
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure including ongoing configuration of related automation, notifications, monitoring and reporting capabilities
  • Recommend modifications to systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance for delivering application and infrastructure in the cloud
  • Responsible for participating in IT change management and asset management processes
  • Maintains documented procedures for Infrastructure
  • Collaborates with team members, developers and software vendors to design, implement and test systems
  • Requires occasionally working during non-business hours and on weekends
  • Participate in on call rotation
  • Accountability on the use of services, handling of sensitive data, and resolving incidents and requests in compliance with FFIEC regulations
  • Creating and updating systems documentation, performing systems assessments and reporting results
  • Contributes to research and evaluation and build out of new enterprise technologies
  • Stays current with advances in technologies

Experience & Education:

The successful candidate will possess business operations experience and skills, leadership expertise, analytical and critical thinking skills, and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Bachelors degree in Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Technical certification in AWS, Microsoft, or VMware highly desirable
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an IT support role with strong troubleshooting skills
  • Comprehensive experience with AWS services including a solid understanding of S3, EBS, EC2, ECS, EKS, ELB/ALB, IAM, VPC, RDS, CloudTrail, and CloudWatch, KMS, Secrets Manager, Route53.
  • Experience with Terraform, to setup automated infrastructure resources and application clusters
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals and network requirements for a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible
  • Experience working within Agile software development methodology.
  • Experience with Linux server operating systems
  • Ability to generate and maintain technical documentation is required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of IT concepts, best practices and procedures
  • Self motivated with the ability to work individually or in a team
  • Ability to leverage tools to perform day-to-day administration tasks, root-cause analysis and service restoration (such as backup, restore, failover, log interpretation, and performance monitoring)
  • Ability to multitask and manages work effectively by prioritizing own assignments, schedules, and meetings resulting in timely completion of work.
  • High degree of personal integrity.
  • The applicant should eager to learn and obtain technical certification.
  • Must be able to receive and follow instructions given by management.
  • Must have the ability develop solutions to unique problems.

  • Must be physically capable to stoop, bend, lift up to 20 lbs to place technology supplies and computers and related equipment onto racks, desks, counters and into cabinets and onto storage shelves, etc.

  • Ability to work in a confined area.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Occasional stooping or kneeling may be necessary.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and telephone.
  • Specific vision abilities are required by this job due to computer work.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
