Position DescriptionThe Town of Marana is seeking a Courtroom Specialist or Senior Courtroom Specialist to work in the Municipal Court. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for a highly organized individual with excellent multi-tasking skills. This key team member assists the Judge with facilitating the flow of documents and people through the courtroom.

Salary Range: $19.12/hr - $27.73/hr
Senior Courtroom Specialist
Expected Hiring Range: $20.65/hr - 25.30/hr
Salary Range: $20.65/hr - $29.94/hr
Placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget
Examples of DutiesCourtroom Specialist
- Assists judge in the courtroom during court proceedings; prepares court documents for the judges signature; enters long-form complaints; processes protective orders; updates the criminal case calendar in court; marks exhibits; records all trials and hearings; distributes all documentation to the correct persons and/or agencies; processes appeals;
- Updates cases in the database; dockets all actions; adjudicates criminal cases; reports outcomes of cases to appropriate agencies; imposes fines and fees as required by orders and agreements.
- Serves as backup to court clerks.
- Provides quality customer service both internally and externally.
Senior Courtroom Specialist
- Functions as a lead worker performing similar work as those directed, in addition to overseeing work quality, training, instructing, scheduling work, and managing the department calendar.
- Assists judge in courtroom during court proceedings; prepares court documents for the judges signature; enters long-form complaints; processes protective orders; manages the criminal case calendar; marks exhibits; records all trials and hearings; distributes all documentation to the correct persons and/or agencies; processes appeals.
- Updates cases in the database; dockets all actions; adjudicates criminal cases; reports outcomes of cases to appropriate agencies; imposes fines and fees as required by orders and agreements.
- Serves as backup to court clerks.
- Provides quality customer service both internally and externally.
Courtroom Specialist
- High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training.
- Over one year of experience in a court setting or closely related field
- Ability to pass a fingerprint clearance background check
Senior Courtroom Specialist
- High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training.
- Over three years of experience in a courtroom setting or closely related field
- Ability to pass a fingerprint clearance background check
An equivalent combination of formal education and/or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position's essential functions will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Courtroom Specialist
- Experience in a courtroom setting as a judicial assistant, courtroom clerk, or similar position
Senior Courtroom Specialist
- More than three years of experience in a courtroom setting as a judicial assistant, courtroom clerk, or similar position
