Senior Manager, Health Care Strategy Analytics

JOB DESCRIPTION:

NORC at the University of Chicago seeks a Senior Manager for the Analytics section of our Health Care Strategy team, which sits within the department of Business Ventures and Innovation. The Senior Manager will help shape and implement the strategy for selling data analysis and policy modeling to non-government, health care clients at NORC. The candidate will use his/her health care industry expertise to identify target markets and services, as well as support business development activities. The Senior Manager will lead teams to execute rigorous and objective analyses using NORCs Medicare and Medicaid claims data and other sources to answer important research questions. The Senior Manager will also work collaboratively with colleagues across NORC to assess new data assets, conduct data linkage, and improve analytic efficiency.

DEPARTMENT: Health Care Strategy

NORCs Health Care Strategy Department delivers consulting, data analysis, and research services to health care industry clients, including plans, providers, associations, foundations, long-term care, and disease groups. We are a new, rapidly-growing business line within a well-established research institution. HCS experts guide critical decision-making in business and policy by translating complex information into actionable knowledge. We work closely with our clients to ensure our work is targeted, scalable, and impactful. Our services include policy analysis, data analytics and visualization, predictive modeling, consumer research, custom surveys, and program evaluations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead mid-size quantitative projects, relying on sophisticated analytic methods to produce superior quality work products
  • Engage clients to build long-term relationships, ensure high satisfaction, and produce effective deliverables for their specific needs
  • Lead a full range of business development activities, including proposal writing and budgeting
  • Develop analytic plans, coordinate with programmers and statisticians, and draft impactful deliverables
  • Support the strategic growth of the Health Care Strategy data team.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Bachelors Degree, Masters (MBA, MPP, MPH, JD) Preferred
  • At least 8 years experience (2 years of management responsibility) in relevant field such as policy, consulting, or data analytics. Experience working in or consulting for health care sectors, such as providers, health plans, biotech, and/or government.
  • Strong foundation in qualitative research, quantitative methods, consulting, and/or client services. Deep expertise in a range of health care topics including public programs, payment and delivery, quality improvement, reimbursement, operations, etc.
  • Well developed problem solving skills, data analysis, time management, personal organization, attention to detail, discretion, and composure skills. Strong client communications and relationship management; strong technical writing skills, strong verbal skills; and data visualization/presentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with agility and work effectively with multiple departments, stakeholders and internal/external clients. Ability to successfully influence cross-functional teams. Ability to work effectively collaboratively with minimal supervision.
