POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead multiple teams (usually of 2-8 individuals per team) in delivering high-quality programs and projects. We are an entrepreneurial team looking for a customer-obsessed, self-starting senior project manager who has good business acumen, is comfortable dealing with ambiguity, and is excited to work with cross-functional teams that solve business problems. You will be responsible for the design, estimation, and execution of projects and large programs consisting of multiple projects for a client and leadership and collaborating with internal clients in the identification of problem areas and opportunities, idea management, and evaluation. On a typical day, you might create and maintain interlocking schedules for projects within a program, track program goals and success metrics, or address risks and issues at the program level. You will also serve as the day-to-day team leader, coordinating the work of Project Managers, maintaining and presenting status of a program, building management tools, and creating presentation decks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic direction for all assigned projects
  • Responsible for the design, estimation, and execution of highly complex and strategic projects across one or more teams consisting of business managers and analysts of varying levels
  • Understand how individual projects affect the program/portfolio and exercise judgement in raising issues and risks to the program/portfolio level
  • Identify and manage project risks, track dependencies and milestones, and communicate overall project scope, priorities, and status
  • Manage individual project budgets, driven by business results
  • Provide oversight and mentorship to one or more Project Managers and teams, build relationships with management and clients, provide your team with strategic guidance and thought leadership, and foster a positive team environment
  • Maintain strong customer focus while coordinating and collaborating with stakeholders, vendors, and engineering resources in the implementation of key projects using effective verbal and written communication
  • Assist in developing a holistic view of a project roadmap
  • Use negotiation skills, influence, and creativity to achieve successful outcomes around scope, schedule, costs/budget, issues/risks, and resources
  • Arbitrate and resolve conflict within the program when necessary - understand appropriate paths and methods for escalation
  • Build strong working relationships with team members, vendors/contractors, business, and IT partners to aid in effective definition and execution of projects
  • Lead organizational change management (OCM) activities in defining the changes to business processes and procedures that will result from the program - incorporate business process change estimates and contingencies
  • Participate in the recruiting of new team members
  • Conduct post-project evaluation and identify successful and unsuccessful project elements using internal tracking and management systems
  • Manage vendor relationships and/or resources as needed
  • Mentor team members and small teams in the execution of different work streams
  • Work directly with leadership to assist, or lead, your team in demonstrations and other presentations while developing your leadership and individual skills
  • Occasional travel as needed

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • 7 or more years of project management experience in a professional environment supporting product owners of multi-function projects and software engineers
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Management Information Systems or related field
  • Deep understanding of project management tools, software development methodologies, and best practices
  • Hands on experience managing various software development implementation methodologies such as Agile Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Waterfall, and Hybrid
  • Can handle complex organizational dynamics to deliver a solution
  • Mentor, lead, and develop junior team members
  • Well versed in PPM tools such as FreshService, Jira, Wrike, etc.
  • Certified in CAPM, PMI-ACP, or other similar certification preferred
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage customers at a business level in addition to a technical level
  • Excellent creative and analytical capabilities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while prioritizing heavy workloads and meeting time sensitive deadlines
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex concepts and oversee complex projects
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, relationship building and collaboration skills
  • Have led teams and worked with product and development teams that develop complex, mission critical enterprise solutions
  • Ability to present and explain information in a way that establishes rapport persuades others, and gains understanding
  • Ability to manage/implement projects, identify, analyze, and resolve business issues through solution-oriented projects
  • Ability and willingness to accept responsibility, challenge established practices and draw relevant conclusions
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment; problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
  • Experience monitoring and managing vendor performance
  • Passion for and a desire to meet customer needs

You might develop a project plan, work closely with development teams during a development cycle, or lead key project deliverables.

You will identify objectives and lead your team in managing project timelines, conducting problem solving sessions, and producing high-quality project deliverables. You will build upon your existing skillset, pursue a deeper understanding of project management, and learn new products and technologies. A typical team size consists of 2-8 highly qualified and talented individuals.

YOUR FIRST TWO YEARS WITH US
