Job Description

Characteristics of Position:

This is professional intervention work in a JAC setting of a human services agency providing alcohol, drug abuse, mental health, juvenile justice or other services. Duties include spending a majority of time screening clients for diversion programs.

SHIFT: 11:00 pm- 7:00 am

LOCATION: Tampa, FL

Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Ensure that Detention and Diversion Screening Units staff performs required DJJ functions (Probation and Community Corrections Handbook and Quality Assurance Standards)
  • Ensures accurate documentation and data entry relating to a juvenile's processing within JJIS Determines client's funding sources and completes documentation as necessary.
  • Complete admission and orientation documentation; may administer or interpret screening/assessment instruments.
  • Develops plans, which include services to address needs according to assessment.
  • Shares in the DJJ schedule for attending detentions hearings on weekends and State holidays
  • Perform related work as requested / required.

Additional Pre-requisite Requirements: Bachelor's degree.

Additional Supervisory Responsibilities: This position may provide supervision to Intake Workers, Diversion Specialists and Detention Screeners on an assigned shift.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC: The program includes the following duties and responsibilities for this position:

  • Maintains knowledge of functions and duties of all lower positions and serves as the point fo contact when questions arise
  • Checks and signs off on packets for the SAO and Diversion Program within required time frames as assigned
  • Checks and signs off on packets for the Detention, SAO, PD and Court within required time frames
  • Determine Detention/Admission Criteria on all juveniles admitted to the JAC
  • Review and sign off on intake workers' logs
  • Delegates tasks on an assigned shift.
  • Provides updated JJIS caseload lists

Specialized Duties/ Tasks

  • Must possess valid Florida Drivers' License, industry accepted driving history and maintain vehicle insurance required by State of Florida. If required to drive an ACTS' vehicle, must maintain drivers' license and history as listed above and participate in all transportation-related training activities, including on-the-road driving test relative to appropriate and safe operation of motor vehicles.
  • Attends unit and individual supervision meetings. Participates in other meetings/events as assigned.
  • May attend meetings in the absence of the supervisor, and may serve as back-up for all Program Supervisor duties as assigned
  • Assists Supervisor in training new staff
  • Attends required monthly clinical supervisions
