Position Description
Performs instructional and educational work while serving as a teacher in a classroom/lab. Organizes and develops course work, coordinates classes for students, observes and assesses the needs of the students. Maintains communication both formally and informally with students and other educators. May supervise clerical, professional and/or technical employees and lab students working for college credit.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Provide 8-15 hours of instruction every week over the Immersion course of three weeks.
  • Provide support and tutoring to students outside of class time.
  • Guide students in all things dealing with the cultural activities the student will engage in throughout Immersion.
  • Provide relevant training to students to help them acquire conversational, wellness and social justice Spanish vocabulary.
  • Assist, guide, and collaborate with the students on their individual and team projects including the health education-focused film project.
  • Assess student's acquisition of knowledge on a regular basis.
  • Work on individualized grading notes for each student and assign a recommendation for a grade based on performance, participation and attendance.
  • Participate in 1:1 and Spanish Team wrap-up sessions with the SCI teaching team, one led by the Lead Spanish Teacher specific to Spanish and one about Immersion overall led by the SCI Director.

Preferred Qualifications
Position Specific Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in English, and native or near-native proficiency in Spanish.
  • Documented experience as a Spanish language educator
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • A records of success as an educator with significant experience in teaching Spanish to health professional students.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods such as interactive large and small group formats, team-based learning, case-based learning, and problem-based learning.
