Purpose of the job

To enhance and maintain the performance and reliability of healthcare EDI systems and data pipelines. This role is pivotal in managing trading partner data flows, diligently monitoring metrics, and setting sophisticated alerts to guarantee the integrity and availability of all inbound and outbound data transactions in the Trading Partner Data Management domains. The incumbent will also be responsible for the development of comprehensive dashboards for end-to-end system health monitoring, including the creation of metrics for service level agreements (SLAs) and service level objectives (SLOs). This position is critical in ensuring that data management aligns with the organization's strategic goals and provides leadership in the development and execution of reliability initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required Work Experience

  • Extensive experience with system monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace), Kubernetes, and incident management.
  • 2 years of experience in managing EDI systems within a healthcare environment
  • 4 years of experience with system reliability engineering, specifically in monitoring EDI and data pipelines
  • 4 years of experience in computer programming, query design, and databases
  • 6 years of hands-on experience with system reliability, specifically in healthcare EDI and data pipelines (Senior level)
  • 6 years of experience in computer programming, query design, and databases (Senior level)

Required Education

  • High-School Diploma or GED in general field of study

  • Professional certification in Splunk, Dynatrace, Kubernetes, or equivalent.

ESSENTIAL job functions AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the EDI transaction systems and data integration, ensuring data accuracy and uninterrupted flow.
  • Learn areas direct flow; and how it affects surrounding systems and operational areas to support Trading Partner Domains
  • Develop and maintain robust monitoring solutions using tools like Splunk and Dynatrace to track the health and performance of EDI and data integration.
  • Utilize Kubernetes to orchestrate services that are integral to the trading partner data management.
  • Establish and maintain metrics for monitoring SLAs and SLOs associated with inbound and outbound data flows.
  • Design and implement comprehensive dashboards for end-to-end system health monitoring and proactive analytics reporting to leadership.
  • Develop alerting systems to quickly detect and respond to incidents in the data pipeline and provide analytics for preemptive actions.
  • Lead incident management processes to ensure swift resolution and minimal impact on services and trading partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize data flow and reliability practices.
  • Engage in the proactive monitoring of systems to preemptively identify and mitigate potential issues before they impact services.
  • Research and experiment with emerging Data Integration technologies and tools.
  • Work with the team to establish and reinforce disciplined software development, processes, standards, and error recovery procedures are deployed, ensuring a high degree of data quality.
  • Develop, write, and implement processing requirements and post implementation review.
  • Facilitate and/or create new procedures and processes that support advancing technologies or capabilities
  • Implement and maintain operational and disaster-recovery procedures.
  • Participate in the review of code and/or systems for proper design standards, content, and functionality.

lead Site reliability engineer - Performs job functions with minimal supervision in a Lead capacity.

  • Direct the strategy for enhancing the reliability and performance of EDI and data integration.
  • Evaluate high-level project information and assess project components to forecast work effort required.
  • Design sophisticated monitoring systems using industry-leading tools to oversee system health and performance.
  • Drive incident management, providing expert resolution to ensure continuous data transaction integrity.
  • Provide peer-level review and mentoring to peers.
  • Mentor junior engineers, and act as the in-house authority on EDI, data pipelines, and system reliability.
  • Participate and/or lead complex technical projects.
  • Act as primary operational contact for internal and external customers when needed or in the absence of manager.
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements between department and operational or technical areas are met.
  • Lead, develop and mentor staff by providing opportunities for growth through delegation, training, and assignment to various project teams.
  • Inform manager of any issues impacting the efficient and effective performance of the department including system, resource, and informational barriers; Provide timely feedback to team member on performance.
  • Assist the manager in the day-to-day operations of the department.
