PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

This position is responsible for direct delivery of services to a variety of business clients, with full responsibility for compliance with Womens Business Center (WBC) program directives. This position works in collaboration with the Program Director of the WBC to head up the programming, strategic planning processes, as well as client services to offer high-quality services to the WBC clients.

The ideal candidate would also have a strong small business and/or training background, enabling them to provide programs services where appropriate; as well as a strong communications capacity to help network, provide outreach, work with diverse clients one-on-one, and represent the WBC program in a variety of public settings.

SPECIALIZATIONS

Must successfully pass a criminal background check.

Bilingual: English/Spanish Required

The Small Business Advisor provides leadership in marketing, outreach and implementation of programs, as well as provide one-on-one coaching with diverse small businesses and training. The Small Business Advisor also plays a key role in grant management which includes, data collection, report writing and other administrative duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 1. Passion to the mission and vision of the WBC

  1. 2. Demonstrated skills in program outreach, marketing, and client interaction

  1. 3. Willingness to travel and work evening or irregular hours as needed

  1. 4. Must have solid written and verbal communication skills

  1. 5. Must be able to work independently and exercise good judgment in a team environment

  1. 6. Ideal candidates would also have some first-hand experience and compassion for the WBCs target groups of women business owners, understanding their needs, wants, values and goals

  1. 7. Must have an opportunity mindset

  1. 8. Be able to coach/consult with small business owners; strength in working directly with clients and case management models and experience in training for adult learners

  1. 9. Experience and comfort with the inner workings of small businesses in multiple industries and diverse communities

10. Experience using database for client case management and reporting on grant deliverables

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree preferred or similar field or 4 years equivalent experience

  • Experience working in a non-profit or government agency preferred.

  • Experience working in microenterprise or small business development and/or nonprofit organization community-based development preferred

  • Computer proficiency and excellent writing skills a must

  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Salary range depends on experience

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

  1. 1. Work collaboratively with program colleagues to determine appropriate trainings and workshops, responding to client needs and shifting business environment

  1. 2. Provide one-on-one and small group consulting to address individual client needs

  1. 3. Analyze client business information to assist them in determining business action plans and strategies

  1. 4. Maintain strong relationships and excellent follow up with clients; take a case management approach to support individual clients in launching, preparing and executing business strategies, and in tapping other resources within CPLC Prestamos and the community

  1. 5. Maintain thorough client data and consulting documentation to track action steps and impact

  1. 6. Provide data for progress reporting; create client stories to illuminate challenges, progress and success

  1. 7. Assist with public outreach efforts, media events, donor events, and other types of meetings

  1. 8. Conduct WBC presentations at off-site locations. Identify new sites for presentations

  1. 9. Represent the WBC in off-site meetings, networking events and staff booths tabling opportunities

10. Assist with Grant reporting

CONTINUOUS EDUCATION

Employee will be expected to participate in continuous learning, competency building and maintenance of competency skills.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Reports to and is supervised directly by the Program Director of the WBC. Employee is also accountable for understanding and complying with CPLC policies and procedures.
