STATUS: Full Time

The Salvation Army in Apache Junction, AZ is looking to fill a Social Service Resource Assistant position. The successful candidate for this position will be able to relate to persons in emotional crisis and utilize intervention skills. This position is benefit eligible and comes with vacation, sick, health, vision, life insurance, free Kroc membership and more.

The Social Service Resource Assistant (SSRA) will assist with Food Distribution intake and monitoring of outgoing. This position will supervise volunteers assigned to front office and food distribution intake. This position will answer phones, forward calls to appropriate person and give referrals to appropriate resources. The SSRA will also collaborate with 211, local governments, and area agencies to provide up to date information on current resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years or older with a valid AZ Driver’s License
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check
  • AA Degree or experience in social service setting to the equivalent with demonstrated competency
  • Have an excellent attendance with the ability to be flexible with schedule
  • Must be able to present a neat appearance as a representative of The Salvation Army
  • Must be able to work within established policy guidelines and be able accept directions and follow instruction
  • Ability to relate to persons in emotional crisis and to utilize crisis intervention skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be part of a collaborative team and maintain a positive working relationship with staff, volunteers, and professionals of outside agencies, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor
  • Deal with public in a patient, flexible yet consistent, professional manner
  • Computer literate in MS Office Suite
  • Able to use general office equipment
  • Previous experience in a HMIS preferred
  • Bi-lingual preferred (English/Spanish)
  • Ability to prioritize work, multi-task, work well under pressure, adapt to change, be a self-starter, and work independently

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
