  • JOB DESCRIPTION

    Job Title: SEAD Specialist
    Employment: Certified School Calendar
    Salary: Auxiliary Salary Schedule
    Reports to: Director of Teaching and Learning and Site Principal
    Supervises: No Supervisory Responsibilities



    Qualifications:
    • Graduate of an accredited college or university.
    • Masters or more advanced degree in Social Work from an accredited institution or completion of a board approved school social worker problem. Official transcript required.
    • Three (3) years of experience working in a school setting or in social services.
    • Fluent in Spanish (oral, reading and writing), preferred.
    • Position requires experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving ones own cultural competence.

    Required Skills:
    • Demonstrates knowledge of the Response to Intervention (RTI) Model.
    • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work successfully with students of all grade levels.
    • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with school personnel, students, parents and community.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of adverse childhood experiences and their impact on learning.
    • Demonstrates sound and practical decision-making.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of restorative practices.

    Essential Functions:
    • Provides support for staff and students regarding traumas impact on learning and practices that are trauma-informed.
    • Convey, to parents and staff, information concerning specific student needs in social, intellectual, emotional and educational areas.
    • Provide support for staff, students and families around restorative practices.
    • Provide or assist in providing the students, parents and staff with programs and skills in self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision-making, self-management, and relationship skills.
    • Schedule and conduct RTI meetings for the campus.
    • Maintain all RTI student files and paperwork.
    • Provide Tier 3 RTI support, both academic and behavior, at all grade levels.
    • Assist classroom teachers in planning classroom level interventions and strategies that support students considered at-risk, either academically or behaviorally.
    • Collect and use data to determine appropriate interventions.
    • Assist classroom teachers, intervention teachers, special education, tutors, specialists, etc. in monitoring the progress of students receiving Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
    • Assist classroom teachers in facilitating professional learning communities.
    • Provide professional development at a school and district level.
    • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
