Job Title: Behavioral Specialist Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Reports to: Coordinator of Special Populations Terms: 202 days
& Special Education Liaison Pay Grade: $ 61,594.00 to $93,248.00

Initiate and support programs and actions that facilitate a positive, caring climate for learning in an
orderly and purposeful environment
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Masters degree from an accredited college or university
in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or related field (preferred)
Certification:
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred
Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Texas School Counselor Certification, and related fields considered.
Special education certification
All certifications and/or licenses must be recognized in the State of Texas.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Crisis Prevention Intervention or Passive Management of Aggressive Behavior training
preferred
Ability to develop IEP and participate in ARD process; knowledge of curriculum; knowledge of special needs of students; knowledge of policies and practices addressing specific duties and responsibilities associated with position.
in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or related field (preferred)
Experience:
Minimum of three years experience working with behavior and/or emotional disordered
students preferred
Working Conditions/Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
The employee must maintain emotional control under stress, work with frequent interruptions, and occasionally work prolonged and/or irregular hours. Frequent district-wide travel is also required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. Standard use of office equipment required.
Essential Functions:
1. Assists in implementing behavioral interventions and supports by providing appropriate behavioral strategies and materials to meet the needs of students with at-risk behaviors, including working directly with high-needs students implementing the districts behavior support program.
2. Plans, organizes, and conducts, with the collaboration of central office and campus leadership, system coordination and professional learning for staff on behavioral strategies.
3. Coordinates school-based support, as requested, to include identifying and modeling effective behavioral interventions.
4. Manages the work and assignment, in collaboration with campus principal(s), of behavior staff, including ongoing training.
5. Work with campuses to identify students exhibiting behavior that impedes the safety of self/others or significantly disrupts the learning environment.
6. Work closely with school administrators, school counselors, teachers, and staff in developing intervention plans and progress monitoring for students with behavioral concerns.
7. Maintain confidentiality per state and federal regulations.
8. Support the facilitation of campus teams with data-based behavioral decisions regarding student learning needs.
9. Adhere to professional ethics and standards and be a positive representative of Navasota Independent School District.
