Primary Purpose:
Develops and implements direct and consultative Occupational Therapy services for students receiving
special education services consistent with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Assess students and provide
therapeutic intervention to maximize physical or mental functioning, increase independent functioning
and/or adjust to disabilities.

Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy or related program from an accredited college or
university
* Valid Texas license as an Occupational Therapist granted by the Texas Board of Occupational
Therapy Examiners
* Experience in Special Education
* Knowledge of testing protocol and interpreting results

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Competently administer required formal and informal assessment instruments
2. Collect, interpret, and report student assessment data and other reports as required
3. Use data appropriately for assisting in student placement and instructional programs as needed
4. Provide direct or consultative therapy to students with disabilities as determined by the ARD
committee
5. Provide consultation with teachers as needed
6. Maintain confidentiality of student information except when the students condition requires
intervention
7. Communicate effectively with school personnel and parents as appropriate for student needs
8. Prepare for and participate in ARD committee meetings
9. Maintain session notes and participate in Random Moment in Time Study and SHARS on-line
billing system as required by district
10. Communicate with all parties in a professional manner
11. Support programs and actions that facilitate a positive, caring climate for learning
12. Utilize appropriate data information systems and records necessary for attainment of the
special education departments mission and overall school improvement efforts
13. Monitor student progress, collect data, and report progress as required. Assess students for
Occupational Therapy related services eligibility and provide therapy to eligible students.
14. Participate in staff development training programs, workshops, and other training as
appropriate
15. Follow all state and federal guidelines, board policies and district procedures as required
16. Other duties as assigned
Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), interpret policies and procedures, reason, read,
understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, coordinate, compile, instruct, and maintain
emotional control.

Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and/or carry moderate weight, sit, stand, walk, reach, repetitive hand motions, hear, speak,
and frequent travel within the cooperative/districts and occasionally outside the cooperative boundaries
and/or county. May experience prolonged and irregular works hours and work with frequent
interruptions.
