Our Client is seeking a Special Education Teacher that wants to make a positive impact on Chicago students struggling academically, socially, and or behaviorally. Teachers will be given extensive minutes per day for personal and common planning, data analysis, professional development, and coaching.
SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
* Provide daily instructional of the SPED curriculum aligning with the schools vision, mission, and values while also meeting state and national academic standards.
* Instruct students in a manner that provides a continuum of services from self-contained instruction to full inclusion in the regular classroom. Monitor and follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
* Provide instruction based on individual goals in small groups and one-on-one.
* Understand and apply effective strategies for intervention and differentiation in the classroom
* Provide one-on-one instructional support to students, including providing small group or one-on-one academic instruction
* Provide support and supervision of students as assigned (during transitions, in special classes, during lunch, on the playground, etc.)
* Facilitate and schedule IEP re-evaluation and annual meetings, as well as scholar transition meetings
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
* Valid Illinois Special Education Teaching License
* Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
* Minimum of one (1) year teaching experience in the content area preferably with experience in an urban public or charter school setting
* Experience managing and creating Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
* Must be able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of students
* Experienced with special needs students and their parents
