Pay Grade: Grade O (Exempt Professional Salary System)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary:

Incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of a framework for providing Special Needs Preschool services to WESD preschool school students. The incumbent will be responsible for the design and coordination of instructional programming, professional development, and parent and family engagement. Additionally incumbent will supervise and coordinate the WESD Special Needs Preschool Team staff members.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises Special Needs Preschool staff to include offering employment and performance evaluation of them.
  • Collaborates with Director of Special Services to complete design and implement preschool child find activities and Special Needs Preschool services.
  • Manages the Special Needs Preschool IDEA Preschool Grant. Monitors funding sources and amounts available and authorizes expenditures, budget transfers, and contingency budget requests consistent with program goals.
  • Designs, implements and delivers professional development to improve student and teacher outcomes both academic and social emotional with a focus on diverse populations and preschool students with special needs.
  • Designs, implements and supervises academic and social emotional services provided directly to special needs preschool students.
  • Supervises the scheduling and logistics of the referral, evaluation and placement process.
  • Implements a comprehensive data collection system for tracking, analyzing and determining the effectiveness of Special Needs Preschool on academic and social emotional outcomes.
  • Conducts program evaluation to determine the effectiveness of WESD Special Needs Preschool programs and recommends changes as are needed.
  • Monitors the Special Needs Preschool IEPs and MET reports for accuracy and compliance with state and federal laws.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • Bachelors degree in Education with current Arizona Teaching Certificate or a Bachelors degree in other school related field such as school psychology;
  • Minimum 3 years teachers experience in public school setting with special needs preschool experience or a minimum of three years of experience in public school setting in a related area such as a school psychologist;
  • Minimum 2 years of instructional coaching and/or teacher development experience and/or other school leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Masters degree in Education or related field;
  • EL background and experience.
