Specialist - Maintenance Planning
Job Description
SUMMARY
Plans, prepares, and schedules maintenance activities using the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for all equipment in the assigned area and recommends standard work procedures for repair jobs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Plans work orders, recommends and prepares materials, services, tools and equipment for planned and emergency related maintenance or repairs in area of assignment.
* Recommends and specifies standard work procedures for major and routine equipment repair.
* Coordinates priorities and sets maintenance work schedules for turnarounds and/or work areas.
* Manages PM system to implement and/or modify plans to minimize unexpected breakdowns.
* Manages equipment numbers and manages BOMs for equipment revisions and installations.
* Prepares and monitors work plans to reduce downtime and optimize job performance.
* Contacts manufacturers for parts information, technical data and equipment specifications.
* Contacts Buyers and Blanket vendors for expediting and purchasing materials.
* Contacts contractors and outside shops for repair work and services as needed.
* Performs special projects as assigned.
* Coordinates work efforts with other unit planners as needed.
* Completes performance and development goals as assigned by Superintendents.
* Tracks annual costs of maintenance contracts and works with personnel to identify ways to effectively lower costs.
* Assists warehouse personnel in setting up inventory and spare parts.
* Evaluates and improves SAP utilization for reporting and planning activities.
* Attend training sessions as per schedule.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.
* A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
* B.S. degree or equivalent plant experience, preferably in the chemical industry.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP operations related to maintenance and planning.
* At least five years field experience on rotating equipment and some knowledge of fixed equipment in the chemical industry.
* Knowledge of maintenance repair functions and chemical plant equipment.
* Knowledge of planning, scheduling and repair practices and procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
