Job Description / Essential Elements:
POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe purpose of a Speech Language Pathologist is to provide individualized education programs to students. The SLP teacher is responsible for developing, implementing and relating the daily activities of the students to the core curriculum.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Assess and diagnose speech, language and hearing disorders.* Coordinate and establish an individualized appropriate therapy program.* Assist parents and teachers in understanding and implementing therapeutic goals for individual children and students.* Skills in diagnosing speech errors and correct remediation techniques in a variety of delivery models, preparing and maintaining reports and records.* Knowledge of standardized speech and language assessment instruments, their administration and interpretation, language development and phonology, alternative methods of communication, assessment of non-verbal students.* Develops daily instructional plans, including Individual Education Plans (IEPs)* Interacts with parents, district and county personnel and public agencies.* Assists student in age-appropriate activities and behaviors.* Assists in the coordination of students’ general education program.* Maintains accurate student records.* Provides individualized instruction to students.* Monitors student progress.* Prepares various forms of correspondence (including parent notifications and administrative requests)MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSCredentials and Experience:* Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Speech, Language, Pathology or Communication Science and Disorders.* A valid California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services credential (or equivalency) authorizing service as a Speech-Language Pathologist.* Candidates who are currently enrolled in a Speech-Language Pathology Credential program are encouraged to apply. Speech-Language Pathology students must provide a letter from the university verifying enrollment and status in a commission approved program.Ability to:* Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.* Ability to see and read printed matter with or without vision aids.* Ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone.* Ability to carry out the functions of the above essential responsibilities.* Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly.* Ability to bend, reach, and walk* Ability to lift items up to 25 pounds in weight.Must Possess:* Valid California Driver’s LicenseMaterials/Documents:* Letter of Introduction* Copies of Transcripts* Credential Copy * Resume* 3 Letters of Recommendation or Letters of Reference* CBEST ResultsImportant Comments:* Excellent support for new Speech-Language Pathologists.

Must hold a Master's degree.The purpose of this applicant pool is to gather applications from qualified candidates for the 2019/2020 school year. School sites are unknown at this time. As positions become available, applications will be screened and interviews will be conducted. This applicant pool will remain active for the entire school year or until all anticipated vacancies have been filled.Candidates in the process of completing their Master's degree and preliminary credential program by August 1, 2020 are encouraged to apply. Attach a letter from your university verifying enrollment and anticipated program completion date.
