Job Description

The Senior Employee Relations "ER" Specialist is a key thought partner supporting our team members and operation leadership throughout the US. The Senior ER Specialist works to maintain positive employee relationships while ensuring compliance with the law. This includes facilitating prompt and effective resolution of workplace conflicts and addressing issues for employees, managers, and leaders in a manner consistent with BBI policies, practices, and legal considerations.


The Senior ER Specialist partners effectively with the HR Business Partners and the Employment Law Team to ensure compliance and consistency in the execution of ER cases and participate in the identification of employee relations trends. The Senior ER Specialist promptly escalates cases that require specialized investigation to the Employment Law Team.

This position can be fully remote. The expected annual salary range for this position is between $80000 - $100000 / year. The base pay offered will vary depending on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We also offer a range of benefits and programs based on eligibility,

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Conducts complex workplace investigations related to employee claims and provides resolution recommendations to the supporting HR and Operation partners.
  • Drafts well-written and thorough investigation-related documents and utilizes the designated online case management tool for tracking.
  • Advises Operation management and leadership on ER issues using independent judgment and strategic thinking while upholding company values and culture, reducing company liability, and ultimately improving the team member experience.
  • Partners with HR Directors and HRBPs on corrective actions, documentation, performance coaching, or other actions for team members.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality throughout conversations and investigations; exercises sound judgment in handling or working with confidential data and situations.
  • Advises and trains managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances. Develops further training as needed.
  • Updates the Employment Law attorneys on investigations and recommendations regarding manager level and above employees while exercising discretion to inform the attorneys regarding any potential legal or business issues arising from ER duties.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelors degree
  • HR Certification (such as SHRM), strongly preferred


Experience/Skills:

  • 5-7 years of Employee Relations experience, required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking, reading, and writing skills, preferred
  • Strong experience in employment law and employee relations procedures and processes
  • Strong working knowledge of state and federal employment laws including but not limited to: FLSA, NLRA, Title VII, ADA, OSHA, etc.
  • Strong experience handling an assortment of employee relations situations
  • Demonstrated operational experience in a restaurant or retail environment, preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with hourly, salaried and management employees
  • Ability to support restaurant operational questions during evenings and weekends when needed
  • Experience in managing multiple cases and projects at the same time
  • Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams
  • Preferred experience with relevant legal, project management and operational tools (ideally including EthicsPoint)
