Sr Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist - Evenings

Under the direct supervision of the Medical Technologist Supervisor, this position performs a variety of venipuncture techniques involved in the collection of blood specimens. Processes specimens for laboratory procedures. Completes all clerical tasks involved in specimen collection, processing and laboratory compliance and provides oversight to other Lab Assistants/Phlebotomists.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.

Experience:

• Must have a minimum of one (1) years Lab Assistant/Phlebotomy experience including pediatric and geriatric capillary and venipuncture experience.

Specialized Training:

• None

Certification/Licensure:

• Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety OR submit a completed Affidavit at time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for fingerprint clearance card.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Must have demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Requires extensive knowledge of specimen processing and phlebotomy as well as state and federal requirements for transportation of samples.
• Must have excellent phlebotomy skills, demonstrate good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to manage concerns of patients, employees and other healthcare professionals in a professional manner.
• Must be capable of handling multiple priorities in a high volume setting.
• Must have excellent keyboard/data entry skills. Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
