As the Sr. Manager of Electronics & Electrical Systems, you wil lead our efforts to performa diverse mix of hardware and software tasks, including, but not limited to: Battery Management Systems to support DOD Directed Energy (Laser and High Power Microwave) systems for military programs. You will work to develop systems to support next generation weapons, sensor, countermeasure and autonomous vehicles.

Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities include:

  • Review of customers requirements and translating these requirements into a functioning architecture that is scalable and modular
  • Follow and/or recommend changes to department processes and procedures in the development environment for both new project initiatives as well legacy systems
  • Develop electrical systems from concept proposals through validation and qualification testing while also ensuring design compliance with both customer and regulatory agency standards and requirements
  • Review hardware products for soundness while using technical judgement and adequacy to allow transitioning into production under configuration control
  • Perform analog and digital hardware design and design analysis tasks for:
    1. Parts selection, screening and cost estimation in a military / aerospace environment where stringent component standards are required
    2. Produce and edit documentation related to the design and release of hardware and software artifacts while being cognizant of obsolesce
    3. Various DC-DC converter topologies for use in battery charging applications
    4. Optimization and control of high current conduction paths from tens to hundreds of amperes for both battery charge and battery discharge
    5. Develop and review documentation of circuit performance characteristics including failure, worst case, radiation, reliability, and derating analyses
    Qualifications

    The following skills are required:

    • Demonstrable analog and digital hardware design skills, with a full appreciation for the hardware development process tools to support full documentation in a technical analysis
    • Sufficient knowledge of Printed Circuit Board layout techniques to provide guidance to PC Board designers in the design and layout of printed circuit boards containing power, precision DC analog and digital circuitry
    • Experience working in a DoD embedded software environment
    • Demonstrable skills in reading and understanding firmware written in C for various types of micro-controllers while using an Integrated Development Environment
    • Experience with analyzing and debugging systems involving hardware and firmware interactions
    • The ability to read, modify, write software executable in a Windows development and operating environment
    • Demonstrable skill and experience using electronic schematic capture tools
    • The ability to understand customer CTQs and generate clear and concise flow down product definition documents such an executable specifications and Statements of Work

    Additionally:

    • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or an equivalent related field
    • US Citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance

    Additional consideration will be given for:

    • 10+ years experience in technical leadership of a small team
    • Project Engineering and Proposal Development
    • Hands on experience with system development and board bring up
    • Military / Aerospace design development experience
    • ORCAD Capture, Altium PCB Designer or equivalent
    • Hardware analysis tools such as PSPICE, LTSPICE
    • System and circuit modeling software (Simulink)
