Position Description
Performs specialized clerical and secretarial duties in support of the medical staff/faculty of the TTUHSC. Employees in this position are responsible for performing varied and complex office duties that require a thorough knowledge of departmental and institutional policies and procedures, as well as medical and scientific terminology. Job descriptions are subject to change due to advances in technology, use of work force, and factors that may impact the TTUHSC's need to modify position requirements. May be responsible for supervising a small clerical unit. Perform under pressure of deadlines

Major/Essential Functions
  • Provide support to assigned Faculty Administrator, Department Chief(s). and Associate Clinical Dept. Administrator to include answering incoming calls, transcription of various medical reports, assist in special projects, technical and business correspondence and other assigned presentation related items (ex. Promotion package for assigned faculty, PowerPoint presentations, etc) as needed.
  • Transcription of various medical reports, and technical business correspondence, for assigned Faculty.
  • Maintains calendar(s), files, portfolio, scheduling, appointments, conference, etc.: record of all processed forms, orders and expenditures on all material for a variety of records for assigned Faculty.
  • Participates in daily/monthly related secretarial duties including but not limited to obtaining and distributing department mail, and front desk phone coverage.
  • Schedules and coordinates committee meetings, education meetings, lectures for assigned Faculty and performs related work as requested. (ex. Grand Rounds, Powerpoint presentations,
  • letters etc..)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Five years secretarial experience with 3 years in a medical setting OR
  • At least 12 months experience as a Medical Secretary at TTUHSC.
