Position Description
This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the clinic patient flow and serve as primary contacts for patients. Responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Work is performed in usual clinic conditions and requires a high degree of contact of both direct with patients, HSC staff, and insurance companies. Employees have cash handling responsibilities.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Assist with daily schedules: check for funding sources, deductibles, payment history, balances on accounts, and calculate self pay discount
  • Assist patients to find funding when needed
  • Maximize collections from patients from balances noted in account
  • Educate PSS, nurses and providers on insurance benefits and funding
  • Counsel patients on insurance benefits
  • Manages worker's compensation referrals and authorizations as needed for assigned providers
  • Manage Worker's Comp referral logging, distribution and scheduling as needed
  • Manage testing, therapy orders, and surgery authorizations as needed
  • Work collaboratively with nurses and coders to ensure surgeries are scheduled and authorized in a timely and efficient manner
  • Verify worker's compensation insurance benefits for all office visits and surgeries scheduled out of the office
  • Create and maintain reference guide for worker's compensation insurance benefits and authorizations
  • Assist with insurance verification as needed
  • Proactively assist other staff and providers as needed

Required Qualifications
