Position Description
Employees in this classification are responsible for providing professional nursing care and instructions to employees or students who become ill or injured on premises of the University. Directs and coordinates the Occupational Health program for TTUHSC-EP employees, students and other staff working for the University.

Major/Essential Functions

-Manages the TTUHSC immunization program. Evaluates immunity of individuals upon on-boarding and on ongoing bases according to University polices and national and state guidelines. Tests immunity and provides immunizations as required.
-Oversees the purchase, proper storage and disposal of supplies and vaccines to meet the functions of the office.
-Provides Occupational Health information and education and instructs individuals on institutional practices directed to avoid disease spread in the workplace.
-Develops and maintains current institutional policies related to Occupational health.
-Evaluates individuals with healthcare environment related exposures and injuries and advices them on necessary testing and care.
-Works collaboratively with other institutional offices in areas of common scope and with affiliated institutions as required.
-Evaluates protective equipment and potential exposures of individuals working with animals or micro-organisms.
-Keeps an up to date database of individual and collective immunity testing, vaccinations, exposures and injuries.
-Prepares a yearly budget for the office and oversees it execution.
-Initiates hiring and trains and oversees staff of the office in their functions following institutional processes.

Required Qualifications
Graduate from an approved accredited nursing program; current RN license in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer license to Texas. Two years of Registered Nurse experience in a specialty area.
