Overview

Lovelace Biomedical is looking for a Staff Accountant. Under general direction and reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for reporting, coordinating activities, resources, preparation of monthly billing and invoicing in support of projects for the Institute.

The Staff Accountant will work with Scientists and other business units/leaders in the development of proposals, budgets and estimates for completion as well as establish track and monitor project schedules, deliverables and milestones. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for analyzing financials to ensure that project goals are accomplished on time and on budget. Individual will communicate with Sponsors, Scientists, Accounting and Finance personnel on project schedules, project and financial status including estimates to complete and deliverables. The Staff Accountant will also work with Accounting and AR on the tracking and coordination of collection on invoices, and perform all other duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of 2-3 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

Must have a demonstrated understanding of fundamental professional standards and practices utilizing GAAP and understanding of general ledger reconciliation and analysis. Must have the ability to analyze data and perform adjustments on findings. Working knowledge of GAAP. Strong numeracy and analytical skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers. Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions. Must be highly organized and detail-oriented.

Requires professional-level computer skills and very advanced experience with Excel, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed. Costpoint experience preferred.

Must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism and excellent problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. Must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team as well as the ability to maintain confidential information. Well organized with attention to details. Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an office environment. Will operate standard office equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience.
