The Sterile Processing Educator works closely with department leadership to ensure the efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department. Provides regional support. Responsible for development, planning, implementation, and evaluations of all orientation, educational and training programs to meet the needs of the SPD and aide in the professional growth and development of staff. Oversees quality initiatives, infection prevention, and regulatory guidelines for SPD in accordance with Joint Commission Standards and identified regulatory bodies. Prepares all staff to be able to meet survey and regulatory assessments; maintains competencies specific to C/D/S standards, instrumentation, and related. Coordinates with vendors and outside agencies for in-service and training. The scope of Sterile Processing Educator will be determined through a leadership collaborative. Reports to a dedicated OR Director or SPD Manager. Facilitates on-site education of SPD staff and meets with leaders across multiple entities.

What You Bring/Job Requirements

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • 3 years experience as Sterile Processing Technician or Surgical Technician
  • 3 years experience in hospital supervisory role, preferred
  • Working knowledge of AAMI guidelines, AORN Standards, OSHA guidelines, SGNA, and in-depth knowledge of TJC and IAHCSMM standards
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office products and e-learning platform
  • Associate Degree Required, Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • HS GED Required
  • Current CRCST or CBSPD Certification, required
  • Certified Surgical Tech, preferred
  • CIS or CHL or CSPM or CSIS, preferred
  • Valid Colorado Drivers License, Required

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
