Job Description
This is considered a remote position - no onsite requirement; must be available one hour per week for virtual meetings during business hours (eastern time)
Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Instructional Designers (IDs) will work together to create an online course that meets the pre-determined course outcomes and description. Subject Matter Experts will assist Orbis instructional design staff in the development of independent learning activities, that may contain a criterion-based objective, knowledge acquisition exercises, practice activities, and assessments that engage the learner in online learning environment. Subject Matter Experts may also be asked to provide ideas and content to drive the development of interactive games, simulations, and self-assessments that support the learning objectives. SMEs may also be asked to teach, as an adjunct, in an online course in their area of expertise.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Outline course structure including module names and outcomes
Identify websites, textbook resources, reading assignments, to align with the course/module outcomes
Write module introductions, self-assessment questions, discussion questions, assignment instructions, quizzes and exams; including distractors, correct answers, and feedback/rationales and map questions to module/course outcomes.
Create assignment rubrics, outline for instructors, instructor guide, and syllabus
Provide feedback to Instructional Designers and E-Learning Developers
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Required *Certified ASCP-BOC or ASCPi -BOC as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist
Required MS degree or higher
Prefer experience with curriculum, content development, and online learning
Prefer a minimum of 1-year experience teaching in MLS program
Prefer current/recent MLS clinical experience
Extensive knowledge within at least one content your area of expertise
A deeply curious nature, passion for collaboration and result oriented learning outcomes
