Job Summary - CORRECTIONAL HEALTH

The Substance Abuse Project Coordinator position's responsibilities include supervision of the Correctional Health Substance Abuse Program, A New Beginning (ANB); ensures program operations are carried out under the supervision of the Director of Operations or his/her designee; organizes the activities of Substance Abuse Program in accordance with the mission and goals of the Harris Health System; oversees the individualized substance abuse counseling, chemical dependency education, coordination of care and case management of the patients in care of Harris County Jail.

Typical tasks may also include:
Participating in the design and implementation of grant-funded programs to support identifying, linking to and retaining in care. Identifying, training, and mentoring staff, Collaborating with external departments or other organizations to establish and maintain a network of services needed by patients, Participating in community-wide planning bodies; disseminating results of program evaluation activities, and ensuring that all grant standards and requirements are met.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees:
Bachelor's Degree in science, social work, or related field
Master's Degree in related field preferred

Work Experience:
Two (2) Year Work Experience working in the Medical Field preferred
Five (5) Years Work Experience In the field of chemical dependency counseling preferred

Management Experience: One (1) Year of supervisory experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications:.
Licensed by (DSHS) Texas Department of State Health Services as a Chemical Dependency Counselor
Related specialty (CCHP) certification required within 12 months of employment preferred

Communication Skills:
