Definition
**THIS IS A TEMPORARY/SEASONAL POSITION**

Examples of Tasks
Essential Functions: Primary functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, abilities, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions within this classification.
Tasks: In the absence of the regular classroom teacher to help students to learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons or to provide meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms.
Minimum Qualifications
Some teaching/instructional experience preferred. Must have a current AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card, Arizona Department of Education Substitute Teacher Certificate and/or valid Teaching Certificate.
Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.
Special Requirements
Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment Drug Test and extensive Fingerprint and Background Check. Employee is Subject to Random Drug Testing and completion of a Background Check every five (5) years.
Substitute Teacher Salary Schedule
Incentives
For every 30 days worked, Substitute Teachers will receive an additional day of pay at their regular pay rate.
Long-term substitutes will earn an additional $15/day after their 20th day.

- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.
- Implements the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
- Serves as a positive role model for students, demonstrating professionalism that includes a positive attitude, positive and respectful communication, and professional appearance.
- Insures that the students are never left unattended in the classroom.
- Maintains a neat and orderly classroom.
- Understands procedures for referring students with disciplinary problems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

- 1st Year Substitutes with a Substitute Teacher Certification only, $125/day
- Experienced Substitutes with Substitute Teacher Certifications only, $130/day
- Substitutes with Full Arizona Teaching Certification, $140/day
