Position Summary

Under general supervision, plans, develops, markets, manages, and administers the programming at the UNM Community Engagement Center at the University of New Mexico. Develops relationship with non-profit and community leaders to build a network. Designs and implements anti-racist curricula; develops administrative policies and procedures for program activities; and acts as liaison with community partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with community partners to design and implement customized training and development programs for Public Allies New Mexico.
  • Recruits, selects, and coordinates with community facilitators engaged in workshops.
  • Co-constructs intersectional antiracist curricula and/or recommends contractors which meet instruction and/or community services goals and objectives.
  • Plans, develops, and implements a range of Public Allies New Mexico marketing strategies and supporting communication materials to promote the initiative and education programs.
  • Serves as principal point of contact and administers the activities of the Public Allies New Mexico program; interacts with community partners and representatives to assess and develop a range of responsive programs and services.
  • Participates in the development of annual Public Allies New Mexico operating budgets and provides fiscal direction to the Community Engagement Center.
  • Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of Public Allies New Mexico policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
  • Evaluates performance and makes recommendations for Public Allies actions; motivates Public Allies to achieve performance goals.
  • Represents CEC at various community meetings, Public Allies national meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies.
  • Oversees and coordinates all Public Allies related administrative activities, operating systems, equipment, and facilities associated with community training and education, virtual education, and/or cultural activities and programs.
  • Coordinates the recruitment and placement of Public Allies New Mexico candidates with partner organizations.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Bachelors degree
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Indigenous language
  • Knowledge of and relationship with localcommunities in NM
  • Strong commitment to CECs and Public Allies Mission, Vision and Core Values and the power of young people to transform communities
  • Ability to monitor and adhere to regular deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks related to supporting and guiding young adults in their careers from the educational, emotional and social development perspective
  • Provide a high-quality learning experience for members
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail, forward thinker and planner.
  • Strong commitment and asset-based approach to building a just and equitable society
  • Significant professional experience in supporting and working with diverse young adults to achieve their leadership and professional goals
  • Maintain relationship with community-based organizations, higher educational institutions, community leaders and training professionals to provide Allies and members with skills building and learning opportunities
  • Solid understanding of adult education, community education and ways to engage diverse/multiple learning styles with experience planning and facilitating workshops and training.
  • Strong preference for and experience in collaborative, team-based work environments.
  • Proficiency in the use of Windows XP, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Model and exemplify the professional and leadership qualities that the Allies and members are being supported to achieve
  • Commitment to personal and programmatic excellence
  • Ability to be adaptive, comfort with change and a dynamic work environment
  • Attention to detail, strong time management and project management skills
  • Experience working in diverse work environments
