JOB SUMMARY:

The Surgical Technologist III (ST III) proficiently provides perioperative patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation. The ST III assists the surgical team in performing operative and/or invasive procedures utilizing proper aseptic technique. The ST III works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and uses knowledge and expertise to act as a role model and resource for other staff.

Minimum Qualifications

School Education:
High School diploma or GED. Graduation from an accredited educational program for surgical technologists or comparable US military program.

Licenses & Certifications:
Certified as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or the National Center for Competency Testing. Note ' military surgical technology trained persons must obtain certification within 1 year of hire.

Basic Life Support from approved American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross program.

Work Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a surgical technologist and/or demonstrated proficiency in two or more surgical specialties.

Communication Skills:
Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact)
Writing /Correspondence

Proficiencies: MS Word, Personal Computer
