Job Description

The Fusion Center Investigative Aide (FCIA) works under the general supervision of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Director and the direct supervision of the Fusion Center (FC) Manager performing intermediate level technical and administrative work. The FCIA work involves monitoring video cameras to detect criminal or suspicious activity, identifying real life threats, and relaying that information to police officers, fire fighters, and OEM coordinators, either directly or indirectly, via police radio. Work also includes monitoring, operating and interpreting multiple interactive software systems regarding emergency and criminal calls for service. Conducting queries of applicable public safety software and databases to assist with compiling informational and intelligence files and packets, as well as researching relevant videos to assist in investigations and uploading video to evidence repositories and providing court testimony in related investigations and cases. Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited American university or college is required. A Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with video surveillance equipment. Prior law enforcement experience or experience with data analysis and other technological applications is preferred. Ability to operate computers, cameras, monitors, radios, recording devices, and other surveillance equipment used in the performance of their duties, is required. Possession of a valid Florida Driver License, is required. Possess a thorough knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) - completion of ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 is preferred. Possess or be able to obtain the following certifications, necessary for the position within one year of employment, and must meet or exceed minimum quality assurance ratings in each discipline: FCIC, NCIC, DAVID, State clearance for access to FDLE Investigative Systems, and Federal clearance for access to Federal Investigative Systems. Possess the ability to obtain membership in the regional fusion center network. Possess the ability to maintain visual attention and mental concentration for a significant period. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing multiple software packages. Ability to pass the Public Safety Department Homeland Security background check and polygraph as well as pass and maintain the Florida CJIS NCIC/FCIC certification. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be available for emergency callback.
