Job Description

Provides support to users of information technology tools. Work typically involves a combination of providing expert advice and troubleshooting on one or more software products, administering and maintaining share-use systems, communicating with users and user groups on technology topics, providing instruction, and evaluating,

recommending, and installing technological solutions to new problems or situations.

 

Salary Range

$58,824 - $60,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

·        Consults with users, and Information Technology personnel in solving problems relating to existing system policies, procedures, operations and/or technical systems and implements approved solutions.

·        Manages data downloading from the mainframe and prepares data for use by departmental users; manipulates and prepares data to be uploaded to the mainframe.

·        Consults with users in new system development and implementation; including requirements definition, design, installation and testing.

·        Troubleshoots supported hardware and software configuration and trains staff how to address specific issues.

·        Interacts with Data Administration personnel to create, update, and maintain databases on the ASU

·        Enterprise Data Warehouse system.

·        Analyzes and identifies policies, systems or procedures which can be improved and recommends appropriate changes to management.

·        Reviews system control, and management reports to maintain system integrity and to assist in problem resolution.

·        Assists in the implementation of new or revised business procedures and systems in major department or section of a major department.

·        Assists with the analysis requirements for a system impacting various users and reaches a consensus of opinion as to the best approach.

·        Prepares management analyses and reports; coordinates the development of systems and procedure manuals.

·        Coordinates periodic reviews of current systems to ensure complete implementation and designs new and modifies existing forms used in business system.

·        Coordinates the development of systems and functions as the liaison between the system user and computer services.

·        Conducts interviews with supervisors, managers and staff personnel during the information gathering phase of system development.

·        Coordinates and supervises initial implementation of new systems and assists with necessary training of personnel to effect system changes.

·        Provides training for new and revised procedures as required

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology or related field AND two (2) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Six (6) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months experience.

 

Desired Qualifications

·        Knowledge of relevant technology tools sufficient to answer customer questions about use, to recommend configuration to meet specific needs, and to solve a wide variety of troubleshooting problems.

·        Knowledge of functional automated software and current advances in technologies that would enhance the functional performance of the system.

·        Knowledge of process improvement methods and approaches.

·        Experience in identifying and resolving problems with computer hardware and software products.

·        Skill in using application software to develop custom products.

·        Experience in developing and delivering instruction and training.

·        Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

·        Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

 

Working Environment

·        Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse

·        Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work

·        Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds

·        Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts

·        Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions

·        Activities may involve working outside; (5-10%)
