Job Description

The BFIT Server and Management team is seeking a Systems Analyst to setup, manage, and maintain all aspects of the server/system architecture to ensure optimal network reliability, security, data integrity, and inter-operability with third party systems and applications. This position will be responsible for managing various solutions such as Slack, MS Teams, Dropbox Teams, and SharePoint for the unit.


Salary Range

$67,000 - $75,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Supports Windows servers including application servers, web servers, database servers, print servers, and file servers from deployment through retirement. 
  • Supports SQL Server and related services.
  • Assists with the configuration of devices that connect with specialized servers such as printer and key box servers. 
  • Manages Slack, MS Teams, Dropbox Teams, SharePoint, etc. for the Business and Finance unit. 
  • Manages users and groups within Active Directory to control access to various technology resources. 
  • Supports various departmental applications that reside on servers that BFIT supports. 
  • Maintains the highest security standards surrounding all technology platforms. 
  • Migrates systems and applications from platforms that have reached the end of life to new platforms to maintain continuity of operation. 
  • Creates and maintains clear and concise documentation of all duties and tasks, especially those surrounding new system implementations. 
  • Provides training for new and revised systems and any procedures that may surround them to assist with the implementation thereof. 
  • Communicates with customers (including management) and ET in solving problems related to system operations, policies, and procedures and implements approved solutions. 
  • Contacts and works with outside vendors during implementation of new systems and as needed to resolve any support issues that may arise. 
  • Analyzes and identifies systems, policies and procedures which can be improved and recommends appropriate changes to management. 
  • Establishes and maintains positive, effective working relationships, especially to work in a team environment. 
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology or related field AND two (2) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Six (6) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months experience.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience administering Windows Server 2016 and newer required.
  • Experience with Linux and docker management.
  • Experience with Veeam, VMWare, and Tomcat.
  • Experience configuring and supporting IIS.
  • Experience managing Active Directory users, computers and groups. Experience managing and maintaining group policy rules.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking especially regarding the firewalling of servers and resultant VLANs.
  • Experience creating and maintaining documentation for new systems and implementation processes.
  • Experience in work that requires attention to detail particularly focused on ensuring that best practices are being employed, especially regarding information security.
  • Experience in identifying and resolving problems with computer hardware and software products.
  • Experience in adapting to innovative technology and methodology to remain modern in our supported platforms and procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology tools and advancements to answer customer questions, to make recommendations about needs and potential performance enhancements, and to solve a wide variety of troubleshooting problems.
  • Experience configuring and supporting both MS SQL Server and MySQL preferred.


Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse. 
  • Position will occasionally require bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds. 
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. 
  • Communicate to perform essential functions. 
  • May be required to travel moderate distances to perform work which includes entering and exiting buildings and often includes operating or riding in a departmental vehicle. 
  • Employees must possess a valid US Driver's license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment. 
  • Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Some evening and weekend hours may be required for urgent or scheduled events. 
  • The first 90 days user will be fully in-office for training Monday through Friday then upon approval telecommuting will be allowed, however there is a required minimum of two scheduled days in-office per week.
