Position Summary:
Reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager. Provides complex system-level support of multi-user databases application servers, and virtualization (VMWare), including installation, design, configuration, deployment, maintenance and support. Applies best industry practices of database and server management, security, performance optimization, and backup/recovery to enable users to maximize productivity. Makes independent decisions concerning databases, servers, and virtual platforms while adhering to regulatory guidelines. Works under general direction within a clear framework of accountability. Exercises substantial personal responsibility and autonomy. Plans own work to meet given objectives and processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Influences team and specialist peers internally. Influences customers at account level and suppliers. Has some responsibility for the allocation of resources. Participates in external activities related to own specialism. Makes decision which influence the success of projects and team objectives.
* Performs a broad range of complex technical or professional work activities, in a variety of contexts.
* Analyzes management needs regarding use of integrated data processing equipment or operations and processes.
* Ensures complete coverage of all databases, servers and virtualization for multi-site environment while adhering to MICS and Policies and Procedures.
* Installs, configure, upgrades, administers, monitors, and maintains physical databases.
* Monitors database activity and resource usage.
* Optimizes database performance and plans for forecast resource needs.
* Uses database management system software and tools to investigate problems and collect performance statistics and create reports.
* Carries out routine configuration/installation and reconfiguration of database and related products.
* Carries out agreed database maintenance and administration tasks.
* Assists in database support activities.
* Prepares on-line and hard copy documentation of systems and user applications.
* Records and maintains software inventories, site and/or server licensing, and user access and security.
* Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems independently.
* Performs problem resolution and provides on call support for databases and network servers.
* Ensures proper operation of gaming and non-gaming systems for all properties.
* Querys databases to produce requested reports.
* Creates test environment and test new applications, updates and patches before deploying.
* Responsible for managing project timelines and ensuring completion.
* Develops recordkeeping procedures and manages appropriate department records in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and standards.
* Maintains databases, servers, and virtual platforms on a 24/7 basis.
* Manages database backups, logs, and journals; install, maintains and upgrades database software; restores and/or recovers data as required; server backups and restores; virtual platforms.
* Maintains a good communication with co-workers and maintains a positive and professional work environment.
* Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
* Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field required plus seven years experience in database, server or virtualization and MCSE or MCSA; or equivalent combination of education and experience. No felony, theft or stealing convictions. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license and to include the following:

* Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
* Skill in examining and evaluating operations and developing and/or re-engineering operating strategies, systems, and procedures.
* Technical writing skills.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office and Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Evening, graveyard, holiday and/or weekend work may be required. Work odd hours and be on call for 24/7 support and emergency purposes
