Position Summary The University of New Mexicos School of Engineering is seeking a highly motivated, knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and flexible Systems/Network Analyst 2 to join the engineering team. Specifically, this position will provide an intermediate professional level of onsite and remote technical support to the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE). Under indirect supervision, this position will be responsible for support in areas of moderately advanced complexity in the overall maintenance, deployment, and management of IT services in the ECE department. Daily operations include, but are not limited to, deployment planning, laboratory and department classroom management, hardware/software configuration and licensing management (FlexNet, WlmAdmin, CodeMeter, LSAdmin, etc.), routine installation and maintenance, network administration, print server management, Linux server management, Microsoft AD/OU administration and Microsoft server management. The successful candidate will provide technical/functional guidance to users in the planning & implementation of applications, systems, and/or networks projects. The ECE department currently has 3 Linux servers, 3 Microsoft Windows Servers, and four computer labs with approximately 100 machines. The candidate will report directly to the ECE department chair and department administrator, as well as collaborate and meet with the SOE IT team. May supervise or provide functional direction to assigned staff and/or student employees.
  • Provides network administrator functions (AD, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, SMB/AFP shares)
  • Responsible for architecting/building large scale lab/faculty/staff PC/Mac deployments
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues with virtual/physical nodes within ECE
  • Assists other SOE Systems Analysts on various projects and tasks.
  • Documents system information and processes, as well as documentation of technical instructions.
  • Manages and performs required annual department inventory.
  • Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant technologies, equipment, and/or systems.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven knowledge in Microsoft, Mac, and Linux ecosystems
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft AD, GPO, and domain topologies
  • Exceptional communication skills and a thorough understanding of IT systems management best practices
  • Well-developed sense of customer service for the values, practices, and procedures found in an higher education environment.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience and/or certification in:

  • Microsoft Active Directory, 2003/2008
  • Microsoft server administration
  • Linux server administration
  • Large scale desktop deployments
  • Large scale application deployments
  • Networking administration
  • Microsoft Access Database
  • Microsoft SQL server
  • Webserver administration
  • DVR & MVR security systems and monitoring
  • Experience working with a wide range of audio-visual equipment
