Job Description

Term of Employment: Full time/10 months with Benefits                                      

 

Salary Range: $46,350.78 - $71,790.55 Depending on experience and level of education

                        (FTE/starting placement may be prorated depending upon student enrollment)

 

Summary:

Implement a Medical Assistant curriculum program consistent with the district educational goals and objectives.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The list of essential duties functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.

 

  • Teach Senior Medical Assistant, skills lab and/or externship rotations to medical assistant students (curriculum includes knowledge in anatomy & physiology, pharmacology
  • medical ethics, operation of healthcare facilities, Electronic Medical record, phlebotomy and medical assistant skills)
  • Participate in meetings and trainings organized by industry associations to equip MA educators with the latest trends and practices in the medical assistant field, and transfer acquired knowledge to students
  • Provide constant supervision of students enrolled in the JTED Medical Assistant Program
  • Have thorough knowledge of Pima County JTED policies that pertain to instruction, students student discipline, and American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) rules and regulations
  • Responsible for attendance, instruction, supervision, and grading of students
  • Maintain good communication with the Nursing Service Manager and registrar
  • Serve as advisor of the HOSA CTSO, involving students in activities at the local, state, and national levels
  • Assist learners in identifying learning needs and guide to appropriate resources
  • Evaluate effectiveness of learning strategies and outcomes of educational activities
  • Submit reports as requested, including grades, attendance, behavior, etc.
  • Maintain the physical facility including equipment and supplies
  • Assist in maintaining program certification by the National HealthCare Association and/or American Medical Technologies as necessary
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications/Education and/or Experience: Requires certification in either RMA or CCMA

 

  • Must possess a Career & Technical Education industrial technology certificate in Health Careers or be able to obtain a provisional CTE certificate in Health Careers
  • Two years as a Medical Assistant and/or related experience
  • Three years teaching experience to include career/technical/occupational/vocational education in a certified secondary program is preferred
  • Thorough knowledge and application of secondary curriculum and instruction in career/technical/ occupational/vocational education, vocational work and apprenticeship programs is preferred
  • May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours
  • May be required to travel to perform work functions
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current negative TB skin test (within the last year)
  • MMR immunization, required unless born prior to January 1, 1957
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or be able to obtain one
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License

Have thorough knowledge of Pima County JTED policies that pertain to instruction, students, student discipline, etc.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Ability to use appropriate technology and able to use as an integral part of instruction

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Utilizes sound judgement and decision-making skills

Ability to use tools and equipment related to area of instruction
