Instructional Aides/Teacher's Assistant are assigned to students who regularly require assistance to maintain appropriate and equitable participation in school. Aides assist students 1:1 or in group settings.
HOURS and LOCATION
Monday - Friday: hours will vary dependent on the school in Newark.
This position is also available in Bloomfield, Verona, Hillside, and Carteret.
SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
* Assist students' teachers provide classroom accommodations
* Collaborate with Special Education Coordinator - implement interventions designed to support students improve their focus and behavior
* Reinforce and model School's core values and standards of behavior for students, follow the example of school leaders, teachers, and other school staff
* Help students grow by encouraging them to use skills they have learned, including phonetically sounding words.
* Perform requested duties to support the ongoing development deemed appropriate by School's teachers, special education coordinator, and school leadership.
* Demonstrate exceptional flexibility: substitute for other roles as needed, support possible change in schedule on a daily basis schedule
* Positively receive coaching and participate in professional development activities designed by school leaders to improve professional practice, especially as it relates to school culture, and students' behavior management, instruction, and social development.
CLIENT'S REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
*Candidates must be available to work during school hours
* Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent
* School-based experience
* Ability to obtain and present NJ Department of Education Fingerprints
* Reliable Transportation
