Diesel Technician III tasks as follows: Diagnose and complete advanced repairs for all company owned vehicle while honoring Hotard Coaches Inc. approach to business that starts with our commitment to safety, operational excellence, and customer service. This includes all aspects of vehicle inspections, diagnostics, disassembly, repair/rebuild/replace/reprogram, reassembly, and completing accompanying documentation. Salary depends on experience.

Education / Experience Required:

o High school diploma or equivalent
o Technical degree in diesel and industrial technology (or similar focus)
o If no degree, minimum 10 years experience in a diesel/bus repair and maintenance environment
o 7 years experience in a diesel/bus repair and maintenance environment

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

o Valid drivers license
o Able to obtain Class B CDL
o Forklift certified to operate a sit-down forklift and scissor lift, or able to obtain
o MACS (Mobile Air Conditioning Society) Section 609 certification

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Although additional duties and related tasks maybe assigned, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

Review assigned Work Orders (WOs), inspection requests, and maintenance requests with Shop Forman
For every assigned WO, review vehicle in Fleet Maintenance Software (RTA) with Shop Forman to identify any outstanding issues, service notes, or maintenance interval alerts
Document required activities on a variety of manual and/or electronic documents such as:
o Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR), Fleet Maintenance Software (RTA), etc.
Identify incomplete repairs, parts needed for ordering, future or immediate service needs scheduling
Completing required pre-repair tasks such as:
o Inspecting, testing, diagnosing, and reporting
Complete all repair tasks such as disassembly, adjustment, repair, rebuilding, replacement, reprograming, and reassembly
Full expertise and proficiency in completing all pre-repair, preventative maintenance, and repair tasks including but not limited to:
o Diesel engines, air and hydraulic brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC), audio and video, transmission and drivetrain, body and frame, interiors, wheels and tires, glass, etc.
HVAC following best practices as identified in the MACS 609 certification program:
o Completing diagnostics from the Information Center, diagnostics of high/low temperatures and pressures, recharge and evacuation of A/C system, belt and pulley inspection, diagnosis, and repair, identifying and repairing leaks
Brake system diagnostic and repair, including full diagnostic process, repair, removal and replacement of air and hydraulic brake systems components, read and understand brake diagrams
Complete engine work, including but not limited to:
o Preventative maintenance tasks
o Replacing filters, belts, and hoses
o Replacing engine components
o Diagnostics, and repair for external periphery, i.e., valve covering, power steering pump, water pump, etc.
o Diagnostics, and repair for internal periphery, i.e., valve adjustment, injector, head gaskets, etc.
Comprehensive electrical work, including but not limited to:
o Charging and startup diagnostics and repair
o Identifying and utilizing power sources
o Identifying shorts/grounds/open circuits
o Reading electrical diagrams and schematics etc.
Collaborate and provide technical input to Shop Foreman and Director for composing training documents, handbooks, and SOPs etc.
Review assignments and schedules with Shop Forman, and ensure all information is fully understood prior to completing assignments
Complete continuing education and training as requested/required by Company
Comply with all applicable government regulations, policies, and standards as well as all Company administrative policies, procedures, and safety rules in all business activities
Provide feedback to Shop Forman to help improve service response
Perform duties and functions to help streamline the daily business operations of the company
Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing additional tasks and assignments as needed
