Job Description

The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University is seeking a Technology Support Analyst to provide excellent customer service to faculty, staff, and students in-person and over the phone while assisting with technical issues. This position performs a variety of activities necessary to provide desktop and software application support to end users to ensure proper and effective operations.


Salary Range

$40,800-$42,300 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Providing support, consultation and training to Herberger Institute faculty, staff and students
  • Configuring, imaging and maintaining Windows and macOS desktops in the Herberger Institute
  • Troubleshooting and identifying software, custom application and hardware issues
  • Supporting and training users on use of video conference software and systems
  • Installing and supporting classroom AV equipment­­
  • Providing AV support for special events and classes
  • Assisting in the maintenance and support of server-based and web-based technology
  • Tracking support progress and completing tickets in a ticket management system
  • Supporting remote sites both in person, driving ASU owned transportation, and remotely via RDP and ARD software
  • Assisting with the management of inventory and assets
  • Utilizing available administrative tools to ensure system integrity and information security
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communications with customers, technology specialists, vendors, users and user groups
  • Acquiring and maintaining a good understanding of troubleshooting methods and techniques, supported hardware and software, and ASU's systems
  • Collaborating both with The Herberger Institute technical support team and the larger ASU support network
  • Providing support for new and ongoing projects
  • Assist in maintaining departmental intranet and training end users on use
  • Evaluating and analyzing technology products
  • Creating, updating and maintaining technical documentation and departmental knowledgebase


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in technology or related field; OR,Four years experience providing information technology services; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.



Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with installation and configuration of Windows 10 and Windows 7
  • Experience with the installation and configuration of MacOS 10.12 or higher
  • Experience with installation and configuration of Linux systems (Ubuntu, Mint, CentOS, etc.)
  • Experience troubleshooting PC and Apple hardware and software issues
  • Experience providing technical support in-person and over the phone
  • Experience providing classroom and/or laboratory technology support
  • Experience with JAMF and/or SCCM configuration and management tools
  • Experience administering SharePoint (2010+ and/or SharePoint Online)
  • Experience providing assistance with Audio/Visual (AV) or Video Conference setup and support
  • Experience with current Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc.)
  • Experience with specialized 3D software applications (AutoCAD, Revit, Keyshot, Cinema 4D, etc.)
  • Experience with motion graphics software (Final Cut, AVID Media Composer, Premiere, etc.)
  • Experience with specialized Arts and Design computing peripherals (large format printers, scanners, 3D printers, laser etchers/cutters, etc.)
  • Experience providing support in a technology help desk team environment
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
  • Evidence of a valid driver’s license


Working Environment

  • Activities are performed both remotely and in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking
  • Frequent physical demands may include stooping, bending, crawling under/around objects, climbing ladders up to 12ft., reaching, lifting and pushing objects of varying weights up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly required to work in cramped and enclosed areas and exposure to variations in temperature when deploying equipment
  • Regular review of completed tasks
  • Occasionally need to drive an ASU cart or vehicle to transport computer equipment
