Purpose Statement

Technology Systems Supervisor

The job of Technology Systems Supervisor is done for the purpose/s of coordinating and maintaining

district and department level technology components including district technology purchasing processes,

the IT help desk system; researching new technologies and vendor resources; providing management on

assigned projects; assisting in the development and management of department goals processes, and

procedures.

Essential Functions

Assists in the development of long and short-range plans for the purpose of ensuring that department/district objectives are achieved and that electronic information is secured.

Assists in supervision, coordination of duties, and performing annual evaluations of department staff as

assigned for the purpose of ensuring that district objectives are achieved.

Assists with training district personnel for the purpose of ensuring the proper, safe and secure use of

software applications, technology hardware and related equipment.

Assists other members of Information Technology Department as needed (e.g. Help Desk, Technology Specialist,

etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that district and departmental objectives are achieved.

Coordinates the installation of computer equipment and software on a variety of platforms.

Plans and oversees a wide variety of technology and/or information system projects as needed and/or

assigned (e.g. installation of computers and related software, etc.) for the purpose of meeting the

technology needs of the district.

Prepares materials in a wide variety of written and electronic formats (e.g. analyses, spreadsheets,

procedures, reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference,

conveying information.

Researches software applications and hardware requirements to provide recommendations for

purchases and ensuring availability of materials.

Responds to inquires of teachers and other district personnel for the purpose assisting in the use of

various software and hardware applications and processes.

Supervises and supports: Technology Systems Specialists, Technology Help Desk Specialists

Supports district end-user equipment, software and processes for the purpose of maintaining efficiency_ and effectiveness of informational technology.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing pertinent applications and operating system software; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; applying assessment instruments; and performing standard bookkeeping.

Technology Systems Supervisor

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform advanced math; review and interpret technical information, technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Advanced mathematical functions; Capabilities, limitations, and functional applications of information technology methods and equipment; Information technology systems design and programming; Research techniques, methods, and procedures; Systems analysis, development, planning, and documentation methods and standards; Database organization, access, and retrieval techniques; Project management and organization including monitoring time and dollar expenditures for tasks performed; Information technology management, logic and communication techniques; Microsoft reporting tools; Management of help desk functions and applications; Modern office practices and procedures, including equipment utilization.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; routinely gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Independently organize activities, meetings, and/or events to ensure daily workflow and special projects; Set priorities, meet deadlines and schedules; Perform multiple highly complex, technical tasks (must be willing to upgrade skills as the need arises); Routinely gather, collate, and/or classify data; Interpret guidelines and employ problem solving skills utilizing a wide variety of equipment to create action plans; Analyze, interpret, summarize, and report research findings of highly technical information (at times to non-technical audience); Produce written technical materials and/or present information to facilitate implementation of desired actions; Communicate orally with customers, co-workers, and vendors in face- to-face one• on-one settings, in group settings, or using a telephone; Monitor or observe data to determine

program problems; Perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others; Work cooperatively with other District employees.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve

Department objectives; directing other persons within a small work unit; monitoring budget expenditures.

Utilization of significant resources from other work units is sometimes required to perform the job's

functions.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 10% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.

Experience: Job related experience within a specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred.
