Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

The University of New Mexico Gallup Branch, Education, Health, and Human Services Division, anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face and/or develop lower division courses (1000/2000 Level) in the Spring, Summer, and Fall 2024 semesters in the following potential disciplines:

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION:
ECED 1110 Child Growth, Development and Learning
ECED 1115 Health, Safety, and Nutrition
ECED 1120 Guiding Young Children
ECED 1125 Assessment
ECED 1130 Family and Community Collaboration
ECED 2110 Professionalism
ECED 2115 Introduction to Language, Literacy, and Reading
ECED 2120 Curriculum Development through Play
ECED 2121 Practicum Birth Through Age 4
ECED 2130 Curriculum Development and Implementation
ECED 2131 Practicum Age 3 - Grade 3

ELEMENTARY EDUCATION:
EDUC 1120 Introduction to Education
EDUC 2243 Childrens Literature
EDUC 2315 Educating Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Students
EDUC 2330 The Effective Classroom
EDUC 2375 Technology Integration in the Classroom
EDUC 2420 Teaching Reading in the Elementary Classroom

The UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque. The University of New Mexico established branch colleges to provide the highest quality of education for students pursuing post-secondary education at different locations throughout the state. Branch colleges respond specifically to the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of their respective communities by offering community education programs, career and technical education including certificate and associate degree programs, and transfer programs that prepare students for upper division entry into colleges and universities.

The Education, Health and Human Services Division at UNM Gallup Branch is seeking a qualified temporary part-time faculty member to teach lower division classes in various courses or topics as specified above. UNM Gallup instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching including but not limited to meeting face-to-face with the class during assigned times that may include evenings or weekends, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the division chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the division chair.

Wages
Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials and credit hour course loads, as follows:

Credentials Rate Per Credit Hour
Terminal Degree, plus 12 hours College teaching $1,058.60
Terminal Degree, less than 12 hours College teaching $1,016.06
Masters Degree, plus 12 hours College teaching $969.76
Masters Degree, less than 12 hours College teaching $920.95

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification for Early Childhood Education:

* M. A./M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education
* M. A./M.Ed. in Elementary Education
* Three years teaching experience at the early childhood or elementary education level

Preferred Qualifications for Early Childhood Education:

* PhD in Early Childhood Education
* Three years university teaching experience
* A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities

Minimum qualification for Elementary Education:

* M. A./M.Ed. in Elementary Education
* Three years teaching experience at the early childhood or elementary education level

Preferred Qualifications for Elementary Education:

* PhD in Elementary Education
* Three years university teaching experience
* A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
