Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: Thisposition is for the UNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

University of New Mexico-Gallup Branch, Education, Health & Human ServicesDivision, anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face and/ordevelop lower division courses (100/200 level) in the Spring, Summer, and Fall2024 semesters in the following potential disciplines:

MLT 111 Intro to Basic Lab Skills, Urinalysis and Body Fluids
MLT 112 ClinicalPracticum: Phlebotomy
MLT 211 ClinicalHematology & Coagulation
MLT 214 ClinicalMicrobiology
MLT 216 ClinicalChemistry
MLT 219 Immunohematologyand Serology
MLT 271 DirectedClinical Practicum I
MLT 281 DirectedClinical Practicum II
MLT 291 Preparation forMLT Board Exam

UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campus of theUniversity of New Mexico located approximately 130 miles west of Albuquerque. The University of New Mexico established branch colleges to provide thehighest quality of education for students pursuing post-secondary education atdifferent locations throughout the state. Branch colleges respond specificallyto the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of their respectivecommunities by offering community education programs, career and technicaleducation including certificate and associate degree programs, and transferprograms that prepare students for upper division entry into colleges anduniversities.

The Education, Health &Human Services Division at UNM Gallup Branch is seeking qualified temporarypart-time faculty members to teach lower division classes in various courses ortopics as specified above. UNM Gallup instructors are responsible for allaspects of any class they are teaching including but not limited to meetingface-to-face with the class during assigned times that may include evenings orweekends, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments,reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by thedivision chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven bygraduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated eachsemester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to thedivision chair.


Wages
Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials andcredit hour course loads, as follows:

Masters Degree, plus 12 hours Collegeteaching $969.76

Bachelors Degree, plus 12 hours College teaching $920.95
Bachelors Degree, less than 12 hours Collegeteaching $881.92

Best Consideration Dates

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Technology or related field.
  • Clinical laboratory experience,
  • Teaching experience,

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters, doctoral, or terminal degree in related field.
  • National or international certification in MLT/MT/MLS or related field.
  • Three or more years teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current accreditation procedures and certification procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with groups in a collaborative atmosphere.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity,inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diversecommunities.
