Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for theUNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 130 miles west ofAlbuquerque, NM.

The University of New Mexico's Gallup Branch,Fine Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences Division, anticipates hiringadjunct faculty to teach face-to-face and/or develop lower division courses (1000/2000 level) in theSpring, Summer, and Fall 2024 semesters in the following potentialdisciplines:

American Studies

Anthropology

Comparative Global Ethnic Studies

Family & Child Studies

Geography

Political Science

Psychology

Public Health

Sociology

Sustainability Studies

UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campusof the University of New Mexico located approximately 130 miles west ofAlbuquerque. The University of New Mexico established branch colleges toprovide the highest quality of education for students pursuing post-secondaryeducation at different locations throughout the state. Branch colleges respondspecifically to the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of theirrespective communities by offering community education programs, career andtechnical education including certificate and associate degree programs, andtransfer programs that prepare students for upper division entry into collegesand universities.

The Fine Arts, Humanities & Sciences Division at UNM Gallup Branch isseeking qualified temporary part-time faculty members to teach lower divisionclasses in various courses or topics as specified above. UNM Gallup instructorsare responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching including butnot limited to meeting face-to-face with the class during assigned times thatmay include evenings or weekends, content delivery, assignment development,grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning asoutlined by the division chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven bygraduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated eachsemester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to thedivision chair.


Wages
Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials andcredit hour course loads, as follows:

Terminal Degree, plus 12 hours Collegeteaching $1,058.60
Terminal Degree, less than 12 hours Collegeteaching $1,016.06
Masters Degree, plus 12 hours Collegeteaching $969.76
Masters Degree, less than 12 hours Collegeteaching $920.95

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in the discipline or subfield in for which you are applying; OR masters degree and successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in discipline for which you are applying.
  • Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution or successful teaching in a community college.
  • Ademonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success,as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
